The parents of 16-year-old Morgan Wilson are creating an CPR education organization after their daughter died of cardiac arrest.

She collapsed while playing tennis and died in the hospital several days later.

Her parents believe she would still be alive today if she had received CPR in time. So, in memory of their daughter, they are creating a program with the intention of teaching every Orange County high school student CPR, symptoms of cardiac arrest, and how to use a defibrillator.

They’re calling the organization Learn for Morgan. They hope to “prevent as many untimely deaths as possible,” said Morgan’s mother, Debbie Wilson.

PulsePoint CPR App Saves A Life

Off-duty firefighter, Scott Brawner, was working out when the PulsePoint app on his smartphone went off.

He responded immediately, interrupting his workout and rushing to the location indicated on his phone.

There he found Drew Basse. Brawner began CPR within a minute of the PulsePoint app and Basse is alive today.

Brawner received The Citizen Life Saving award on Monday and Drew Basse was present.

The app is available in your app store. Once downloaded, you can select the fire department to follow. The app is not available in all areas.

New CPR App Rocks

A brilliant new CPR app called PulsePoint is going to change emergency rescue.

The app alerts phone users within a quarter of a mile when someone has suffered a possible heart attack. It also shows the exact locations of any automated external defibrillators.

The Ohio fire department teamed up with a local hospital to integrate the software into the city’s emergency dispatch system.

Once an emergency call is received, any phone user with the app installed will be alerted. Their goal is to get CPR going as quickly as possible to increase the chances of survival.
